Do you intend for it to be a limited series or short story, like what some authors are doing, or is this an ongoing that you think could go for an extended stretch, such as ur Thor run or say the Invincible series?
By world building, how expansive are you talking about? You did a lot of good, from the ground up work on Absolute Superman, and from what you are inferring this is going to be even grander than that. How in-depth are you looking to make it?
How would you describe your protagonist and antagonist and how they differ, or are similar, to previous pro/antagonist u have worked on in the past?
Of all the projects u have worked on, what is it that made this one so important and so much of a focus for you in getting finalized?
And I have so many more but for now this looks like it’ll be enough for me until the book drops. Really looking forward to seeing where u take us in Bug Wars!
P.S. if u were optioned for an adaptation of BWs, would u prefer for a live action or an animated adaptation of your book?
This first book is a six issue story, but this is definitely only the beginning of what I want to be a sprawling exploration of this world across multiple volumes.
As for your other questions, we'll have to wait and see. I appreciate your level of interest! Thank you!
And I think an animated adaptation could be really exciting.
Hey Jason, sorry to pivot to a different topic on this post, but a question has been on my mind lately from your days on Thor.
Given Gorr’s time and bond with All-Black, and the power he wielded with it, almost comparable with Knull after a fashion, would it be too much of a stretch to call Gorr a King in Black like Eddie, Meridius, and Knull are/were?
That’s great! If I don’t catch it on the first round (I’m pulling more than I probably can afford now and adding a new one, I dare not do) I’ll definitely try to grab it either on the second round, on digital, or when the first trade drops.
But regardless, I’m very very excited about what you have planned in this book.
And now I want an animated series for a comic book that hasn’t even dropped its first issue. How does that happen on a Monday??
Not sure about Lunar (don't deal with them, Canadian) but it already passed for Universal. A lot of FOC dates are sort of phantom ones because Universal locks more or less every pub except DC in at 2am, so any hype stuff I do, I just say FOC is the day prior because that's when I need customers to have orders in by. I made a promotion post for the book on our socials a few days before so we def had some preorders and got those in, but just figured you should know the timing thing for Universal for any future promo stuff on here. Looking forward to the book!
Ah, thanks, I appreciate you letting me know that. Didn't realize it was a different date for Universal. Yeah, for Lunar FOC is today. Hope it sells well for you!
i am super excited about Bug Wars, congrats and thanks for sharing!
so many great blurbs from so many great talents! i was particularly pleased to see this from Erik Larsen, whose Savage Dragon comic is one that i've been reading continuously since it began in the early 90s:
“This book is cool as hell. Wow. This is a new take. This is different. This is fun. I have no idea where it's going and that's good! The art is amazing. The story is a blast. You've hooked me and that's no easy task. I can't wait to read more.” —Erik Larsen
I figured. It's a pain because it's technically the same day but 2am makes it functionally not so it's deceptive. Please let other creators know if promo talk comes up.
We're a smaller shop with more of a superhero market (there's a more indie focused shop 10 mins down the road and four more shops in a 30 minute driving radius so my area's well served), but preorders are looking good! Though I think Absolute Superman is still going to be your bestselling book with us for a while yet.
So many questions about this bookk!

I love seeing you and Mahmud do the battles y'all do so well with a buggy flair! Some killer reveals in that first issue. 🥂
Thanks, Tini. Yeah, Mahmud really killed it on the battle scenes in this one. I think it's some of the best work he's ever done.

Thanks! What's your store?
Gnu Books, in Oshawa, ON. Very small but long lived shop.
I’m a licensed Pest Control technician, and even I’m looking forward to this one!
Now that's a pull quote.
You’re welcome to it!
I thankfully got Bug Wars added to my pull list! Was able to read the Ashcan and it is absolutely fucking awesome! Go Chiefs!!!
I’m all in. LFG JA!
